If you’re comparing Excel, Python or data analytics courses, you’ll see both labels on our site. Here’s what each one means, and how to pick.
WSQ explained
The Workforce Skills Qualifications system is Singapore’s national way of training, assessing and certifying workforce skills. It is now run by the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), formed on 1 July 2026 from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore.
Pass a WSQ course and you receive a Statement of Attainment, or SOA, for that module. Since July 2026 it also names your course.
Isn’t WSQ just another name for SkillsFuture funding?
It’s a common mix-up. WSQ describes the credential. Grants and SkillsFuture Credit are about what you pay. A course can have funding without being WSQ, and our CASL courses do.
Side by side
| What you’re checking | WSQ | Non-WSQ (CASL) |
|---|---|---|
| What you receive | Statement of Attainment from SWDA | Intellisoft Certificate of Completion |
| Issued by | The national agency | Intellisoft Training |
| OpenCert | Yes | No |
| Grant on our courses | 50% or 70%, if eligible | 50% or 70%, if eligible |
| Assessment on our courses | Yes | Yes |
| Good for | Roles or schemes that ask for a WSQ credential | Building the skill with the same funding |
CASL stands for Course Approval Skills List. At least half the skills a course teaches must be on it for this funding tier.
Why some of our courses changed
WSQ 2.0 took effect on 1 May 2026 and narrowed WSQ to two priorities: high skills standardisation, and credentials recognised within and across sectors. Courses outside that scope run as non-WSQ. A WSQ accreditation also ends with the course’s funding validity. So some of our courses became CASL courses when they were renewed, with the same grant rates.
Your certificate after the course
WSQ: sign in to MySkillsFuture with Singpass and go to your Skills Passport. To verify an OpenCert file, an employer can upload it to opencerts.io. The official certificate FAQs give no expiry date for an SOA.
CASL: attend at least 75% of the class and pass the assessment, and we’ll issue your Intellisoft Certificate of Completion. Please keep it, because it won’t appear in your national WSQ records.
What you’ll pay
| Grant | Who usually qualifies |
|---|---|
| 70% | Singapore Citizens aged 40+, and SME-sponsored Citizens and PRs |
| 50% | Citizens aged 21 to 39, MNC-sponsored PRs and individual PRs |
9% GST is charged on the full fee. SkillsFuture Credit, UTAP and SFEC may reduce the balance. Companies should note that current SFEC support ends on 30 November 2026, and a redesigned SFEC begins on 1 December 2026.
Which type is my course?
Each course page states the certificate you’ll receive. A course can change type when it is renewed, so check the page for the course you want, or ask us.
Common questions
Is a CASL course cheaper or more expensive than a WSQ course?
The grant percentage is the same. The fee depends on the course, and each course page shows it before and after the grant.
Do I still have to sit an assessment on a CASL course?
Yes. You need to pass it to receive the certificate and to qualify for the grant.
My employer asked for an SOA. Which course should I take?
Choose a WSQ course, or call us on 6250-3575 and we’ll check which one fits.
Can I pay with SkillsFuture Credit?
Yes, if the course is SFC-eligible. We can confirm this for your course.
